Its now 2 pm, joy have giving up hope in seeing Martins today, she can't believe she miss him this much, he heard the door open, she thought its the gateman that came for his lunch so she didn't bother standing up from the chair.
"Sorry am late" Joy jerked up as she heard Martins voice, she wanted to be angry but seeing him with a smile melted her anger away
"Is it your mother again" she asked, Martins shook his head.
"I went to teach Chisom first" he said without knowing the density of what he just said. Joy wanted to bark at him but realize she have no right to do so.
"Let's start then" she said, then went upstairs to bring down her material.
Throughout the lesson she didn't laugh even when Martins makes joke, he kept wondering what he did wrong.
"Are you alright" he asked, Joy just nodded and he continued,
"You know she is into you" Joy asked as she couldn't hold it anymore.
"Who" he asked
"Chisom", Martins knows, he practically have to pry her hands off him today, but he needed the money and he hope to stop once his mother is discharged.
"Don't worry about that" he said
"Worry, why would I be worried, after all you are just my tutor" she said, remembering Martins introducing himself as that.
"OK" he said with a tightened throat, he feels bad for him being just a tutor, but his sane part reminded him that's the plan.
"You know what, am worried, am angry even when I don't have the right, lately I often find myself thinking about you, wanting to appear good before you. Then out of nowhere she came and got all your attention I worked hard for" she barked, earning a surprise look from Martins.
"Don't be surprise, I know you feel something, you always hitch on your breathing whenever you see me" she said sounding so sure.
Martins is happy she is confidence to say all this, but its not right to have it with her so instead he decides to lie.
"I take you as a little sister, and what you think you feel for me is just admiration, with time it will die off, remember am taken" he said, and watch the tears run down Joy cheeks, their is nothing he want more than reaching out to her and wipe her tears but he can't.
"What makes you think so" she asked in between sobs
"Cause I have live longer making me wiser" he said,
"You are lying" joy said and rushed to her room, Martin felt bad, he left the house and went to the hospital, on nearing the hospital he realize he didn't get paid by Joy, and he needed the money to add up with the one he got from Chisom to clear his mothers hospital bill. But it would be awkward if he goes back, so he decided to pay the one he have and promised to pay the rest tomorrow.
After Joy confession things became awkward for the both, Martins is glad that she will soon take her jamb and he will be done, he can't keep hiding his feelings, after his mother got discharged he stopped tutoring Chisom. She was always trying to seduce him.
"How is the lesson going" his mother asked
"Swell" he answered, his phone vibrated, he brought it out and it was a message from Chisom, he deleted it before reading it. He knows it will be another text of how she will satisfy his sexual needs.
"When you started the tutoring, you always come home happy, but now its different" she asked, he is not surprised his mother noticed
"Its nothing to worry about" he said and stood up to avoid further question, he went to his room then brought out his money to put in his safe, he notice a piece of paper in between the money.
He brought it out, Joy hid it there, he didn't notice is earlier cause he tucked the money into his pocket when she gave it to him, he now unfold it to see the content.
"Hi. Its joy, I know you see me as your younger sister. Which is annoying cause I know what I feel. You can choose to discard it as a child fantasy, is it a fantasy that I spend my every wake hour thinking of you, and you fill my every dream. I may be a thick head but at least I know love"
Reading the note made Martins realize how he love her and how serious she is, he couldn't bear it anymore so he rush to her house to tell her everything, to tell her how he feels light whenever he sees her.
