Martins went to his room after the emotional discussion with his mom, he lay on his bed when he decided to call joy, he didn't pick her call earlier cause he don't want to destroy the moment he is having with his mom. .
"Hi love" he said as she picked up
"Hello Mister, I thought I have been dumped" she said making Martins chuckle
"Who in his right mind will dump a heap of beauty like you" he said, and heard Joy gasped
"Are you saying you love me cause of my beauty alone" she asked
"I would be lying if I say no, but its not the only reason love" he said and Joy smiled even though he can't see her
"Thank you for your honesty mister, but tell me other reasons" she said,
"Even if heaven fall I won't stop loving you, is that reason enough, since in reality one needs no reason to love, we just love" he said,
"Spoken like a true philosopher mister" she said and they both laugh. "Lest I forget, my dad is having his birthday party, so he asked to invite you" she said
"Am guessing I don't have a choice love" he said
"Hell yes you don't, cause you must be there and that's final" she said making Martins laugh
"When is that" he asked
"Sunday" she answered, that's next two days

"Tell me why didn't you pick my calls earlier, I hope all is well with your mom" she asked
"Yes all is well, just we were having a heart to heart discussion and I wouldn't like to end it abruptly, so I sort of ignored the call" he said making Joy gush.
"Mommy's boy" she said, and Martins laughed, said his farewell and hung up. He received a call from Joy just immediately.
"Is anything wrong" he asked
"No nothing much, just I think you forgot something" she said,
"Nop, I said all I have to" he said, really sure he forgot nothing
"Well you forgot to say the L word mister, you know the phrase that start with I and ends with You, with Love in the middle" she said making Martins give a hearty laugh.
"I don't think I understand what you mean love" he feign ignorance.
"Don't joke with me mister" she is getting angry "its normal things for lovers so better say it and I will reply" she have always want to go to sleep with her lover saying it.
"Love, things with magnitude shouldn't be used always lest its looses its meaning, so love go to sleep and know your existence is someone happiness" he said, joy realize he just said he love her without actually using the word I love You.
"Sleep tight mister" she said with a sweet sensation.
"You too love, and Joy? "
"Yes? "
"I Love You" He said and her happiness soar to the sky, she felt like exploding
"I love you Martins" she replied, and they hung up after a moment of silent.
Till Sunday, Martins didn't see joy which was a punishment to them, though they spoke on phone, now its Sunday the party and Martins is eager to go, its a night party. George already spoke to him too, and begged him to sleep over when he comes, he will sleep in his room.
"Mom I will be leaving" he said, due to his maturity his mom, always leave him to make his decisions, something you rarely see in our country.
"Be safe" she said
"Are you sure you can sleep alone, why not go visit our Uncle" he suggested, in the past whenever Martins is off to work and won't come home for days, his mom go over to his uncle's house.
"Don't worry, its only for this night" she said and urge Martins to leave its getting late already.
He left after saying goodbye, he arrived at the house like 30 minutes later, he was surprise to see the fleets of cars packed outside, what surprise him most its their attire. Some are in native attire, while others in suits and tux, he felt inferior cause he was wearing a jeans, polo and sneakers, his Sunday best.
If he knew this is what the party would be like he would've stayed home. He thought its not yet late so he turned to leave only to see Joy's mom, he remember joy telling him she is back for the birthday.
"Martins" she said happily, they haven't see for long

"Come on in" she said and escorted him inside, it was filled with men of calibers, he remember his dad attending parties like this with his mom.
"What are you wearing" she asked, noticing Martins poor attire. "Go find George he will help you out" she said before he could answer, Martins now left to look for George hoping he would be in his room.
"Martins" he heard Chisom called his name, the party is on, but the music wasn't loud so people can easily hear each other.
"Chisom" he said looking at her, she is wearing a blue gown, can easily charm any man she want, just Martins is off the list.
"Looking around do you see how world apart you are with her" she said,
"Same with you and I" he said
"Yea, but my parents won't mind" she said
"And how do you know her's mind" he said with close teeth
"Cause I always hear her mom talk to my mom" she said, it makes no sense to Martins he just turn and left her, if only he can see Joy, he will be happy and forget his encounter with Chisom.
