Chapter 8
We jerked apart when we heard the door sound, and how lucky we were cause her dad just walked in.
"Daddy" she screamed and went to hug him, he returned the hug with a smile too
"How have you been" he asked, smiling clearly missed his daughter
"Fine" she answered, that's when his eyes went to me
"Henry?, what are you doing here" he asked with a bit of anger, it can easily go unnoticed
"He is here to show me the building plan" she answered before I did "he is the architecture that am working with" she finished
"I hope so" he said, I know no man would approve me for his daughter "if you have nothing more to do, can you excuse us" he said, or more like demanded.
The contractor will be here any minute so I guess this is my cue "sure, welcome back sir" I said and took the building plan"bye Vivian" I said with a wave then left the family.
My life that I have been so proud of, is now nothing but a regrettable past, I wish I can take it all back. The contractor is already on my doorsteps, perfect timing.
"Mr Segun" I said when I saw him, he now turned to look at me
"Ash Henry" he replied with that intonation of yoruba "how are you" he asked, he is a nice man
"Fine, let's go inside" I said walking to open the door
"If that's the plan in your hand, no need going inside" he said, he have always been the busy type
"Alright, here it is" I gave it to him "I already told you about it, tomorrow I will meet you in the office with the girl you will be working with" I said and he nodded
"If that's all, then catch you later" he said and we said our goodbyes, its possible to see Vivian today, but I don't want to disturb her, she is with her father and besides if he sees her today that means I won't get to see her tomorrow. I went inside looking sad and dejected.
All through the day I kept peering through my window, hoping to catch a sight of her, acting like a teenager, but I didn't, when the day darkened, I went to my walls and pressed my ears against it hoping to hear any sound, I didn't.
When it was exactly 8 pm my phone rang, I was carried away I picked without looking at the screen
"Hello" I said in bit of a hurry
"So I wasn't missed" her voice came through and relief washed over me
"Vivian" I said smiling "you have no idea", she just giggled
"So have you handed the plan to the contractor" she asked and I nodded
" yes" I answered as I remember she can't see me "I will take you to him tomorrow" I answered. We talked long, even about her father, and the building, but non of us brought up the kiss, like it never happened, we even flirted a little.
That's one of the things I love about her, with her am never sad, am always happy, I always want her. We spoke like an hour before saying good night. After she hung up I received a call from Gabriella, one of my flings, I turned her down, I have been doing that lately, its time for a new life, thank God I never promised them anything, it was all a fling and nothing more.
I woke up early this morning, I have this feeling, like a boy going on a holiday to a big city so he can't keep calm, I bathed and did my morning activities super fast. I rushed to her apartment wearing a wide smile, I knocked, hoping for her to opened the door, insteaded her father did and my smile faded, I forgot him
"Good morning sir" I greeted, we always hang out together but since he came back things are different, I remembered what Vivian said before the kiss 'my father said I should keep away from you' that sickened me but its true
"Morning, so why are you here" he asked, he still in his night wear, I hope Vivian is alreeady done, please God
"He came to pick me up" she said behind him, he turned to see his daughter, already dressed up, I smiled, that's my girl, well not yet.
"Where to" he asked, clearly disapproving the fact
"I told you dad, we work together" she said and move over to me, not for long I thought to myself. "Come on let's go" she nudged me, we both said our goodbyes to her father and went to the car
"If I don't know better, I'd say you're scared of my dad" she teased as we entered the car
"Shitless"I replied, she just giggled and I drove off.
