Chapter 3.
After catching up with George he invited him over to his house, George came back from school earlier that day, so he insisted Martins come see him during the weekends, they exchanged contact.
After work on Saturday Martins decided to go see George for he made him promise, he freshened up since he know George is from a rich home and he don't want to make a fool out of himself.
"You came" George said surprisingly as he saw Martins
"Yes, I did" he said and was urshered in, Martins took in the house, its a duplex with a fine interior, just like the one they use to live.
"Sit down let me get you something to eat" he said and left even before Martins can decline. It wasn't long after Gorge came back with juice and some biscuits,
"Dig in, my parents will soon be back, after I told them what happened they have been eager to meet you" he said and Martins regret his decision coming, for he never want to meet the parents. Meeting parents always makes you a family friend.
Not long after Martins started chatting with George freely, they reminisce on their past school life, Martins is now thinking its not a bad idea he came.
"Do you remember when you set chidimma bag ablaze" George said choking with laugh
"Come on man, that was a mistake" Martins defended himself "beside she was an annoying brat" he said, and George couldn't agree more.
"I missed you when you left" George said and the laughter died down, they use to be best of friends, they committed many mischief together.
"I can't say I don't miss you too, but life happened" he said, and that moment George parents came in.
His father is fat, like typical rich man, the mother is taller than the husband with her neck designed with gold necklace, she looks familiar but Martins is sure he never seen her.
"So who do we have here" The man said and Martins stood up as a respect
"He is Martin, the guy I told you about" George said but confusion is still in the face of his parents "the one that saved me" that's when they realized what he is saying.
"Oh my boy, come shake me" The father said and Martin went and obliged him
"Hope you already offered him something" the mother asked and George nods, they seem nice Martins thought to himself.
"Come sit down boy, tell us more about yourself" George father led him to a seat and then sat opposite him together with his wife, before Martins could say anything George beat him to it. He said everything even ones Martin would've avoided like the death of his father. Anyway George have always been a talker.
"Am so sorry boy" the mother said pitifully, after hearing the story
"So what are you doing now" the father asked.
"Any menial job" Martins said with a shrug
"That's awful" the mother said,
"More than, cause Martins use to be the best student, he should be studying Engineering or perhaps doctor" George added.
"I will see what I can do about your situation boy" The father said, Martins hate being a burden
"No sir, no need I can take care of myself" he said almost in pleading tone.
"I won't have it, you saved my son after all" he said, Martins was about to argue more when they heard the door open.
"I tell you, the teachers don't know what they are teaching" Martins eyes widened as he heard the same voice that made him came back to that short road the day he save George.
"Or you have a thick skull" George teased, Martins still refuse to turn around since he is backing the door, with the goosebumps he already know who it is.
"Don't just start" the same voice said
"Anyway come meet Martins" George said, and Martins want to disappear, never did he imagine fate will bring him face to face with her again. She walked closer to Martins direction.
"Meet my sister, Martins" George said and Martins have no choice than to turn.
"Hi" he said mustering up smile.
"You" Joy said pointing at him, and the surprise look on the family's face was priceless.
