Chapter 21
It took her a strong will not to sleep in the class, the night call is now showing effect, it was a pleasure seeing Mr Uba this morning, and also in same tired state,
"I brought you this" Amara said giving Mirabel a food flask, she took it and open it, it was fried rice
"My dad, cooked it and said I should give you" she said, Mirabel choked down a laugh, never could she imagine him doing something like that, but she not denying the feeling it gives her
"Thank him for me" she said, and Amara gave her a nod and walked away
She now positioned herself to eat it, a guy have never cooked for her not that she cared, but with Mr Uba things are different. Her eyes widens as she took the first spoon, she couldn't describe what it taste like, salt was too much, the season taste raw, it took her will power to swallow
"I should warn you, my dad is a terrible cook" Amara came back and said, she laughs as she saw the horrid look on her teachers face, showing the warning was late
"You eat this" she asked, pitying the poor girl,
"Not in a thousand years, he either buys me fast food or my aunt makes me food" she replied, Mirabel only nodded, then Amara excused herself to go play with her friends.
She closed the food, and kept aside waiting till she meet him, she will definitely give him an earful. She was disappointed when school dismiss and Mr Uba didn't come to take Amara, it was the sister, she knew from the resemblance and the hug Amara gave her.
She went home sadly, and seeing her mom sad look was worse, she asked her about her father, she said he wanted them back, she instantly refused, not given her any chance to say her mind.
"Hello stranger" his voice came through the phone
"Hello there" she said as her lips curves into a smile, he really brightens her day
"I miss you" he admitted, and mirabel leaped for joy, Her excitement was visible
"But you weren't in school to pick Amara" she said then heard a knock.
