Chapter 22
"I have a remedy for that" he replied, Mirabel giggled and made way to open the door wondering who it will be. To her greatest surprise Mr Uba is standing there wearing a smile she can only describe as cute
"I told you, you're fastly becoming my addiction, and my day is never complete without being with you" he said the cut the phone
"If this is your idea of wooing me, consider me wooed" she said and hugged him, acting on impulse, it surprised her as much as it surprised Mr Uba, but they both welcomed the warmth
"I take it, that's the man" her mom said from behind her, they both broke the hug
"Hi, am Christopher Uba" he said extending his hand, that was before cleaning the sudden sweat he had on his palm
"Am Janet Ugwu, her mother" she said shaking the hand and smiling, she still kept her husband name even after he left them, cause he didn't legally divorce her.
"Come in" she said motioning him in, Mirabel was certainly glad her mom is showing him a kind welcome and her previous down mood have been elevated.
Mr Uba kept entertaining them with stories, but from his past and ones with Amara, Mirabel knew instantly that he is the man for him, they had dinner together, her mom later retired to her room, leaving them both. They both wish they can spend the night, but they also know is irresponsible.
"I will be going now" he said after much chat, he was reluctant to live but he knows its either now or never
"Yes" she clears her throat "its getting late anyway" she said fiddling her fingers, it was cute and it took a lot for Mr Uba to keep calm but he can feel his determination wearing down. So he made a move to the door and she followed behind
On getting to the door, he turn to look at her, and the intensity in her eyes sucked him and he lost control
"Something is on your lips" he said looking her lips
"What" she asked touching her lips and suddenly feeling hot under his intense gaze
"This" he said claiming her lips, and it was nothing he ever felt, he realized how truth it is that we don't often know what we are missing until it arrives, he missed the kiss he never had.
